Granite

Description: Granite is a natural stone with its own mineral make up that creates beautiful patterns and color. These unique patterns and movement within the stone make it difficult to replicate.

Appearance: Being a natural product, each stone will be different in nature and character. Some tops may have natural spaces and fissures that add to the uniqueness of each slab.

Seams: Seams are visible and cannot be hidden.

Durability: Extremely durable and resistant to scratches. Able to resist high temperatures, but the use of a trivet is always recommended. The sealant does slow down the ability for oils and dyes to be absorbed into the surface, but it does not completely prevent discoloration from absorbtion over time.

Maintenance: Due to the fact that it is a porous surface it requires a sealant to be applied to protect from water and food being absorbed into the surface. After initial sealant, it is recommended that you continue to seal the surface once every three years. It is also recommended to only clean the stone with simple dishwashing soaps and to rinse thoroughly with water.

Reparability: While it is a very strong stone, it is very difficult to repair if misused.
