Solid Surface (Corian)

Description: Solid Surface is a man made material that consists of a blend of acrylic and a natural mineral called aluminium try-hydrate. Solid Surface countertops are very durable and long lasting and have many practical properties.

Appearance: Many new colors have come out that give solid surface materials a more natural look with movement and flow to the material. However, many colors do have a consistent pattern. With hundreds of colors to chose from there are a lot of design capabilities.

Seams:  Seams are invisible.

Durability:  Solid Surface materials are very durable and long lasting. They are 100% non-porous and will not stain. This also means that they are resistant to mold, mildew and bacteria. Scratches can be easily removed with sandpaper and a scotchbrite pad. Corian is heat resistant, but a hot pad or trivet is always recommended.

Maintenance:  Virtually maintenance free. Solid surface materials do not need to be sealed because they are non-porous.

Reparability:  Corian is very repairable if it ever cracks.
